Q1: Tell us a little about your story. What brought you to your area?

I was born and raised in Lake Charles. I left in 1977 to work in a major market, San Francisco, Ca. I returned in 1982.

Q2: How are you involved in your community?

As CEO for the SWLACVB I serve on many boards. The La. Pirate Festival, the Burton Coliseum Advisory Council, the Lake Charles Civic Center Development Corp., and the Creole Nature Trail All American Road District Board of Commissioners.

Q3: What is your favorite thing about your area?

We are continuing to see incredible visitor growth in our destination from all sectors. From new restaurants, hotels, shops, and festivals that give rise to new attractors and experiences benefitting visitors and locals alike giving rise to great promise and synergy.

Q4: What is your dream for your community?

My dream for our community is for the CVB to continue to light the way for a stronger and brighter future for Calcasieu Parish.

Q5: What would you say to someone considering a move to your area?

Welcome to my Southwest Louisiana home! Outdoor adventures, history and culture, family fun and festivals, delicious cuisine an exciting casino nightlife and a community that welcomes visitors with open arms are some of our many attributes.

Q6: How did you get involved in the tourism industry?

My mother worked at a hotel when I was growing up, so I think it came naturally. During my college years, I worked at the front desk at a local motel. When I moved to San Francisco, I worked at a historic hotel as Reservations Manager, Front Desk Manager, and then Director of Sales before moving back to the area and working at the Sheraton Chateau Charles before moving on to the CVB.

Q7: What is your advice for someone looking to get involved in the tourism industry?

The hospitality and tourism industry can be a very rewarding career. If you work hard, you can easily move up in the ranks.

Q8: What destination is at the top of your travel bucket list?

Greek Isles

Q9: What is your favorite...

  • Place to eat: There are many wonderful places to eat in our area but every Saturday you will catch me at Big Daddys for breakfast.
  • Place to hang out: I enjoy sitting on my deck overlooking Contraband Bayou.
